PHANTOM 111 - HYDRAULIC TAPPET MECHANISM. RE: ROCKING LEVER BUSHES. It is evident from your reports that the above bushes when worn act as though they had been made with inner and outer surfaces eccentric to one another, this being so the only remedy is to make the bushes an interference fit in the levers. To enable Depots to deal with this fault, it will be necessary to copper plate the outside of bush .005 per side, grind to give between .001 and .002 interference fit, press bushes into levers and ream out to size. We have run bushes which have been treated as above, and proved that this is a remedy for eccentrics which stick in full 'on' position, and holding valves off their seats. BY.{R.W.
