TO ~~FX.~~ FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to ~~CS.~~ HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E1/M24. 8. 25. X.8080 X.8190 EAC. CARBURETTER FILTER. We had occasion to dismantle the filter on the EAC. car here and found the top nut jammed on the stud, the latter piece breaking away two threads from where the thread started on the bottom end, and being made of brass. The trouble may have been caused to some extent by the fact that the cork washer on the bottom end was partly jammed over the edge of the flange, and in the effort to make this joint petrol tight the stud had become strained. There was no washer under the nut at the top. We send you herewith LeC. 2127. shewing some improvement to this piece. The stud has been increased in size to 1.BA. and specified in stainless steel, as was originally intended. The top washer has been increased in dia., and both female threads have been made so that they can be tapped right through, the ends of the holes being sealed by a suitable pressing sweated on. Would you kindly issue the necessary instructions to test for standardisation. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [Stamp in bottom left corner: RECEIVED 29 AUG 1925] | ||
