COPY. 40/50 HP. Car. Van Berkel,Rotterdam, Holland. Car inspected for possible cause of water leak in sump. All valve caps removed and cylinder bores examined, and no sign of internal or external leak found. Sump examined and about half a teaspoonful of water found in the oil. This I put down to be due to condensation in the sump as upon removing the oil filler cap, I discovered this had a few small spots of water in it, which can only be accounted for in this place by condensation. The appearance of the engine around the valve tappets led me to suspect back pressure in the crankcase, and upon examining the release pipe and small gauge attached to the carburetter air intake and safety device from the crankchamber - I found the gauge blocked up with dirt. This I cleaned and replaced. I brought back a sample of the Prices Motorine oil with me for analysis, and said you would report to them on the matter. This car has done 30,000 kilometres in 14 months. (Sgd.) R.D.Oliver. 14.2.25. | ||
