B.III BONNETS.

The bonnet on the first B.III chassis 7.B.IV is not at all satisfactory in appearance and will produce an unfavourable impression as to the possibilities of steel bonnets. It has been produced from ordinary commerical black sheet which is, of course, useless for this purpose. what actually should have been used is "Silver Finish" planished body steel which is sold by all steel firms. The drawing calls for S/LCW material and we are obtaining from the coachbuilders and steel manufacturers a suitable Specification to include on the detail drawings.

Will you please make a second bonnet for 7.B.IV using the special finish steel described above. If it is explained to the D.O. what is required they will obtain suitable material.

Further, the folding of the top plates should be done by Messrs. Hallam, Sleigh & Cheston Ltd. If you will inform Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. when the top plates are ready he will arrange this.
