contd :- -3- Petrol consumption tests. A series of comparative petrol consumption tests were made at 10, 20, 30 and 40 m.p.h. with the following results : SPEED. M.P.H. R.R. M.P.G. Solex. M.P.G. 10 16 10.49 20 16.3 11.25 30 16 10.5 40 15.7 10.15 A further test was carried out under average running conditions at an average speed of 30 m.p.h. This result was Solex carb. 10.48 m.p.g. RR.carb. 14.33 m.p.g. The same route was used in each case. It appears that the Solex carb. is adjusted excessively rich at the low speeds in order to tide over weak places under full throttle conditions. Acceleration tests. Comparative acceleration curves attached. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/A.J.Lidsey. | ||
