To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} 600a Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.5/MH.{M. Huckerby}8.1.38. 26.G.VI BONNET. As no specified instructions were issued for 26.G.VI bonnet in the recent specification drawn up, it was intended that the car should retain the bonnet already fitted to it, i.e. with top and side plates in .064 aluminium. Further we instructed this same gauge material in our specification for the 6 production cars - unfortunately By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} changed the gauge of the side plates on the production LOP. and we were not informed of this. Will you please refit 26.G.VI old bonnet to the car (.064 top and side plates). If the production bonnets are not yet made we shall arrange to have them changed over also, since we know that .104 side plates are satisfactory and therefore do not need trying.
