ALTERATIONS TO R.R. AERO ENGINE PARTS.
Description of Parts.
Starter Mechanism on Condor engines.
Origin.
To allow starter motor current to be switched off if engine fails to start.
Experimental Test Report.
There have been failures on the first Condor engines owing to the fact that the motor could not be switched off in the case of an engine failing to start. The under-cut on the starting jaws would not allow them to be withdrawn and there was not sufficient free movement to release the switch.
