7.7.27. X.8781dr. PRODUCTION INSPECTION, ADJUSTMENT & TEST. X.8690. X.5781dr. OF IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR & CONTACT BREAKER. X.5690. A.{Mr Adams} MAIN DISTRIBUTOR & CONTACT BREAKER TEST. Inspection shall be made that the contact points are exactly opposite, with contact surfaces bedding centrally; This can only be done accurately, and should be done, by running the distributor with a coil, as the surface of the points will be characteristically marked where electrical contact has occurred. The contact lever should be carefully adjusted until this mark becomes central on the surfaces of the contact points. Also that the cam runs perfectly true and that the contact breaker lever moves freely on its pivot; which pivot should be greased. Ascertain that the contact lever spring is free from cracks. The contact lever should be pushed back against the spring as far as possible once or twice without shewing any signs of distress. Ascertain also that the insulated condenser connecting strip is clear of the condenser case. Also that the various pressure contacts between the condenser terminals and the platinum points are clean and screwed up tight. Also see that the cam itself is greased. The tangential force at lever pin radius necessary to advance or retard the ignition distributor shall lie between the limits 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 lbs. weight. (Contd.) | ||
