Dear Sirs,

Lubrication of Watford E W 6. Magnetos.

In reply to your letter of the 26th inst., we beg to say that until recently we have made all magnetos with ball bearings for the distributor spindle.

The plain bearing was adopted in order to obtain quieter running after our Mr. North had discussed the question with Mr. F.{Mr Friese} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Royce, your Chief Engineer, who considered the necessity for lubricating this bearing would not be overlooked by the men in charge of the cars.

In recommending the oiling of these bearings every 500 miles we have followed the practice of makers who have always used plain bearings for their distributors and we should not care to recommend less frequent oiling.

We do not think any difficulty is likely to arise through the bearings of the armature spindle also being oiled every 500 miles as the drainage is sufficient to carry off any excess of oil.

Yours faithfully,
FOR AND ON BEHALF OF
NORTH & SONS, LTD.,
