pipe lines, by a straight mineral oil, such as Mobiloil, to prevent corrosion. This mineral oil can then be used until the pump requires filling again, when the car is next used.
Summing up, we should say that the properties of an oil which make it acceptable for use on a central lubrication system are :-
(1) It should have well-known lubricative properties.
(2) It should have a moderately high viscosity figure at a normal temperature.
(3) It should maintain its mobility at a low temperature.
(4) It should not corrode the pipe lines or drip plugs.
(5) It should preferably be clear and must be free from wax or other solvent. In addition the :
the companies who supply it should be in a position to furnish us all over the world.
Appended are results of certain laboratory tests in connection with the above.
