X8770 To H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} from BJ. BJ11/H11.7.24. Re E.A.C. Car No. 46-PK. Messrs. Northey, Hanbury, Cowen, Sidgreaves, Birkett, Major Cox, Commander Briggs and myself tried E.A.C. 46-PK with the latest springs. C.J. thinks possibly the following summary of their reports will be of interest to you. ENGINE VIBRATION. Fairly good. Customers of closed cars might object. STEERING. Rather heavy. It appeared to get heavier the last day the car was with us. Customers will miss springing which no longer "self-centres". HEAT IN FRONT. As bad as the 40/50 h.p. HILL CLIMBING. Good considering the axle ratio. We should like to try it with 15 and 14 tooth axles. ACCELERATION. Fair, considering axle ratio. BRAKES. Excellent. A slight click can be felt when first depressing the pedal. HIGH SPEED. Good, as far as could be ascertained on the high road available. SILENCE STANDING. Room for improvement. SILENCE RUNNING. Good, especially at high speeds. SLOW RUNNING ON THE ROAD. Room for improvement. SLOW RUNNING OF ENGINE. Not good. at low speed IGNITION AND CARBURATION. Both appear to be unsatisfactory and we understand will be improved. SPRINGING. Altogether too harsh and lumpy. Customers would not accept it as a Rolls-Royce, which is noted for floating over the road, whilst many other high-powered cars bump over the road. PERIOD. The engine appeared to be particularly free of this. | ||
