1104 1020 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 15th August, 1938. T.D. Wishart, Esq., Crossley Motors Ltd., GORTON, Manchester. Dear Mr. Wishart, I am wondering whether you are having any problems with bearings on your oil engines at present. We have during the past three years developed a new type bearing alloy which has shown itself in many cases to be superior to lead bronze, and certainly possesses double load carrying qualities of any babbit which we have so far encountered. Although this material is not at present being marketed commercially, this will come about very shortly, and, in the meantime, we have a number of experimental applications which are running with complete success. If you are interested in the subject, we should like to discuss it further with you at your convenience. Yours sincerely, | ||
