Contd. -2- marked off in .3, .5, .7, and 1 gallons. We think it would be much more easily read by the average person if it was marked off in ¼, ½, ¾, and 1 gallons. Quite a number of people do not understand decimals of a gallon. In fact, our own labourer when filling up with oil read the scale the wrong way, taking the 1 as being the commencement. ¼, ½, ¾, and 1 appear to be the most satisfactory way because that is the standard measure for buying oil. One buys either a quart, half-a-gallon or three quarts etc. of oil. Oil Filter and drain. We think it is a great pity that the oil filter cannot be removed from this engine without crawling underneath the car and undoing a number of small nuts. If it is considered impracticable to make the oil filter accessible, we think that there should be an accessible plug for draining the oil out of the crankcase. At present the plug is in the bottom of the filter and the plug which is instructed is one which cannot be undone with an ordinary spanner, it is one with the hollow square hole and demands a special tool. We strongly advocate the drain plug for the crankcase should be reasonably accessible and should be of a type that could be undone with an ordinary spanner. Fixing of Inspection Cover on Flywheel casing. As one would anticipate the Inspection Cover will be frequently removed. We recommend that either the cover is fixed so that it is only necessary to loosen the screws and push it on one-side or that the screws are made so that they cannot fall out. contd:- | ||
