We lay down a specification for the car and the date on which it is to be ready, but now with a multitude of instructions, which frankly we never understand, we have to hope for the best.

I have written to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} to-day as regards the 20/25, pointing out that we are getting out of our depths.

If we can find anyone who will relieve us of some of our job and make life easier, we shall be delighted, but the present help we are getting is only making things very much more difficult.

The justification for claiming that the specification for type test engines and modifications on the aero engine side should be left to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and ourselves was on the understanding that this was the procedure which had worked successfully on the cars. We are getting the aero engine into line, but at the same time the car position is slipping back where the aero position was.

As I mentioned earlier on in my note, we have not sufficient energy at the moment to start more bother.

I get By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and Sft.{Mr Swift} coming along asking us to interpret what all the instructions mean.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}
