With further reference to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2/E10.12.34 I want it to be clear that in using the words 'brake judders' I am referring to two separate things, one, the judder which takes place when drying the brakes off and at comparatively low speeds and the other which takes place under certain conditions of road and brakes at high speed and which I believe is due to front axle tramping and is known by that name by some people.

This is the really dangerous one which has been experienced by various people such as:

Mr.Fairey.
Mr.Tips.
Mr.Staniland.
Mr.Rae Smith.
Professor Dodds.

I might add that fear of getting it, i.e. having heard about it from Mr.Fairey, caused Major Maurice Wright of Fairey's to ask us to sell his car for him.

In E1/HP12.4.34 this question of front axle tramp was referred to at length and I wish to know what modifications have been made since that date with a view to overcoming this trouble which really is the most serious and dangerous one and will not, I believe, be cured by the modifications referred to in your Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/MJ.7.12.34 which really deals with the other type of judder.
