| Bly{B. W. Bleaney - Bentley Sales}/W2.13.11.34 S/W Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} re: H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Thompson, Esq., Thank you for your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KW10.11.34., we have to-day received the order form and cheque for deposit from the above gentleman. We understand from Park Ward's that it will quite an easy matter to make a slight modification to the wings to improve the appearance when the car is in the unloaded position, and the charge for altering the two rear wings would be in the neighbourhood of 15s. per wing. With regard to fitting 6" tyres with the present standard body this would involve reconstructing the wheel arches and providing specially hand-produced steel wheel-arches which involve additional expense, but Park Ward's informed me to-day that they are increasing the standard clearance by ¾" on all further bodies, and Mr. Thompson will have one of these. In addition to this ¾" extra clearance, they can pack up the body slightly in order to bring the clearance up to the same as is now supplied with the standard body with 5.50" tyres. Regarding the distance between the steering-wheel and driving-seat, a Latex seat-cushion can be supplied at an extra charge of £1. You will appreciate that all departures from standard specification by Park Ward involve an extra charge, as the price of these bodies has been cut considerably owing to the quantity ordered. This should give 1½" more room between the top of the seat-cushion and the steering-wheel. We have noted your remarks concerning the clearance for the adjustable steering column, which we would mention, is a standard arrangement. Regarding the special front-seat adjustment, we are fully conversant with the type fitted to Mr. Bernard Hopps' car. This is made with the old type Leveroll fittings, but we would point out that although Park Ward's have sunk these as much as possible on Mr. Hopps' car, they raised the normal seat ½". Recently I saw the new type Leveroll | ||
