HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X8380 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Copy to C-S Sub-Frame on 40/50 HP. As you will probably be considering the introduction of sub-frames, I am enclosing a copy of BJ8/H22.4.26. From a Sales point of view the position appears to be the same now as mentioned therein, but possibly the Works officials know some special advantages which would counterbalance the considerable increase in total weight and extra expense. It seems a matter which requires very careful consideration before we decide that it should be standardized, and that tests should be made under all conditions with different types of bodies before arriving at a final conclusion. I realise there is a distinct advantage in having a sub-frame under special circumstances where we have an experimental chassis which we do not want a coachbuilder to see, but this of course is quite different from bringing in a sub-frame as standard, especially in these days when we wish to save every ounce on the chassis.
