To Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} from EFC. X2894 EFC3/T16.3.27. (Stamped and upside down: CERTIFICATE OF INSPECTION BY A.I.D.) RE TUNGSTEN POINTS (Stamped and upside down: ROLLS-ROYCE ENGINES AND SPARES) We have been informed that a definite advantage in the performance of tungsten points can be obtained if the points are cut sectionally from a tungsten rod with the fibres of the material running axially, which would not be the case if points are stamped out by machines. At first we were not aware that it would be possible to stamp tungsten points out with a machine, as we have always thought tungsten was a very difficult material to work. Do you think Messrs. Reynolds would assure us that this point, if there is anything in it, has been duly taken into account, and that they are definitely giving us the best tungsten points obtainable ? Perhaps they would say exactly how they produce these points. EFC. | ||
