Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter ref. EBB/EA of the 17th inst, and in reply would tell you that our tests were carried out on a 1932 Morris Cowley, that has done a few thousand miles.

Our test was carried out as follows. Loads up to 125 lbs. were applied by a spring balance at a given radius and at right-angles to the brake pedal. An additional small piston was inserted in a front brake cylinder, the effort at this piston was made to lift weights by a right angle lever mounted on a knife edge.

An article published in the S.A.E. Journal gave the efficiency of the hydraulic brake system as 82% but in our tests we did not attain this figure.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
