c. Mr. Nadin. c. Mr. Burton. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X7300 3rd. July 1928. BY2/G.3.7.28. Messrs. Rolls Royce of America, Inc. Springfield, Mass. For attention of M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Olley, Esq., Dear Sirs, CLUTCH. ------- Referring to Cyl/R.6.7.28. written to Na.{Mr Nadin} we cannot see any reason for drilling the web of the serrated driving piece in order to allow the oil to pass from the front to side of same, as there is ample clearance on the tops of the teeth, and when the engine is running the oil would very freely pass through the clearances above the serrations to equalize to front and rear. We have run all our experimental cars without any holes, and whilst there is no objection to a hole being added in the web one does not see that it is really necessary. With reference to the second paragraph, there are four holes shown in our piece G.76292, blueprint of which we enclose for CY's information, marked up in red to show the holes. Yours faithfully, By TECHNICAL PRODUCTION ENGINEER. FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
