BENTLEY STARTER MOTOR TO R.R.SCH.508.

We have now tested the first motor produced to the above scheme.

The results we have obtained shew an increase of 15 lb inches in the stalling torque, no increase in the maximum BHP. but an increase in the efficiency at maximum BHP. point of .10.

These results were not as good as were expected and upon examining the scheme we consider a lot of space has been wasted in the field circuit. We have pointed this out to By/RD. and an improved field winding is now being schemed out.

This will have the effect of reducing the total motor resistance as well as to improve the magnetization.

A further report will be issued with curves when the new field winding has been tried.
