With regard to the Wraith we hope that the examination of the pistons will not take more than half a day so that you will be able to resume mileage very soon. While you are taking the connecting rods out, we suggest that you remove the bottom half of the centre main bearing, and one intermediate main bearing to see whether they show any signs of collapse. We should be very interested to know whether the new engine mounting which we have sent out satisfies your requirements, also that the new brake distribution on the Bentley is satisfactory. In spite of running for an hour at 4,500 revs. per minute driving the engine through the dynamometer drums, we have not been able to reproduce a distributor failure. With regard to your having run over an island with the car, this should be put in as an accident report so that it can be dealt with by Insurance. I stopped the British Goodrich Tyres coming out to France in view of the doubt as to whether they would arrive there before the car had finished its mileage. We should like you to do some running on Mobil Arctic on the Bentley to see what effect this has on consumption. We are also told that this oil drops the oil temperature.
