Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}3/LG30.3.22. We have received your report this morning re. Running of Experimental Goshawk Cars (undated) which we have circulated as requested. We are enclosing a copy of report we sent prior to receiving your memo. and the salient features you will no doubt take up with R.{Sir Henry Royce} We have also sent a report re. loss of water from engine, which is still receiving our attention. We have received the following telegram :- (from Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}) "Cross steering levers bent - send new pair - suggest stronger design". We have arranged to send off new levers of latest design and same as those now fitted. The brinell test of these levers we are sending is 285. Could you please take this matter up with R.{Sir Henry Royce} As a matter of of the work on these levers is now held up by the "lock-out". meh We have received your wire today as follows:- "Send immediately by post spare jet restrictors also set of leather covers for ball joints suggest Handenby brings next test car - here our caburation excellent - no improvement with S.U. writing - Hives". We have replied as follows:- "Sending today pair of jet restrictors same as now fitted your car - have not yet any satisfactory leather covers for joints now trying samples - will send set of best we can obtain - next test car we hope leaves for France middle next week with driver - will instruct Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} to take Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence" Platford". We have only so far received a few samples of leather covers for steering and shock absorber ball ends which do not appear to be at all satisfactory and we are now arranging to get some more people on the job. As soon as we are able to obtain something reasonable, we will send you on a set. We do not, however, feel we should go ahead very fast with this job in view of the contemplated alteration to these ball joints. Copy EPZ/LG30.3.22 enclosed. EP.{G.
