1021 4th June, 1941. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG.1/RH.{R. Hollingworth} Messrs. Wilmot-Breeden Ltd., Eastern Works, Camden Street, BIRMINGHAM. 1. Attention Mr.Spicer. Dear Mr. Spicer, Thank you for your blue print No.PD/EXP.6/6441. This, I think, will be generally satisfactory. There are, however, one or two points which still need attention of which I have no doubt, you are aware. In case you may have overlooked them, I enumerate them below. 1. Allowance will have to be made for clearance between the end of the handle and the moulding to accommodate the body side sweep. As drawn, the moulding is at right angles with the handle spindle. I appreciate that the drawing was made to show the scheme of attaching the handle to the moulding and the angle was not considered. Similar conditions apply to the rest of the handles. 2. The face of the boss in the moulding will have to be parallel with the inside of the door, i.e. at right angles with the handle spindle. 3. As the minimum width of the moulding has to be 1" and the moulding on the rear door is 15/16", it will be necessary for them to swell out round the handle, which will also add to their strength at this point. I think that possibly if they swell out to 1 1/4" diameter, it will be an improvement. If you could let me know if this will be suitable, we can arrange for the moulding which is pressed in the panels to accommodate them. 4. As the handles are held in position by the mouldings, it will be necessary to have fixings as near as possible on each side of the handle. You can probably arrange for the lock-plate to be cut away to accommodate a fixing on one side, and we are arranging to put a screw through the step in the -Over- | ||
