To Ey. From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ACL C. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Mr. C. to EF Mr. X490. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ACL3/WJ.15.7.29. X4440 X490 S.S. COMBUSTION SPACE. ------------------------- We find the only accurate way to measure the clearance volume of the combustion chamber is by water measurement before the head is fitted on the engine. Allowance must be made for the C. A.{Mr Adams} gasket which when compressed in position is approximately .070 thick. This gives an additional volume of 1.10 cu.ins. The clearance volume comes out at 21.67 cu.ins. (including the allowance for the gasket) which gives a compression ratio of 4.6 : 1. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ACL. | ||
