Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed.{J. L. Edwards}2/GH.12.2.40. 12th February 1940.

Messrs. Amal Ltd.,
Holford Works,
Perry Barr,
BIRMINGHAM.

Dear Sirs,

FOR THE ATTENTION OF MR. SORESBY.
---------------------------

You will recall that some time ago when
our Mr. Edwards visited you regarding Bentley V Bonnett
Fasteners you demonstrated to him a patent quick action
fastener generally used on aeroplane fuselage.

At that time we could see no direct
application for the fastener, but recently we think
that it would be applicable to a scheme which we have in
mind. We should be very glad, therefore, if you would
send us a sample that we could have a look at the job
and see whether it could be incorporated.

The particular application which we had in
mind is the fixing of steel side-plates to angle brackets
the total thickness being in the region of .150" to .200"
and if you have any other pieces which you consider would
be suitable we should like to see samples of these.

Yours faithfully,

DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - CHASSIS.
ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
