-2- Ms.2/11/22.4.32. Cont'd. {John DeLooze - Company Secretary} £3.10.0d. per set fitted. The price we paid for the four fasteners on 19-EX. was 6/4d. per set. It is not proposed to standardise these fasteners, the object is to gain some experience with them. (11) Flexible Spring Shackle. This is to N.Sch.3033. (12) Brakes. Cast iron drums front and rear, Leke and elliot material. Anti-squeak brake shoes front and rear. (13) Rear Axle. 12/41 ratio instead of std. 11/41. (14) Road wheels 19" rims in place of 20" rims, with two rows of spokes (Cheaper construction) (15) Gearbox. Synchro-mesh 10° angle cones. ENGINE UNIT. Larger dia. crank. 2.8 dia. journals 2.37 pins. Crankshaft balanced 6/3 scheme. Std. crankcase bored out. Pistons standard. Connecting rods. Std. except to suit larger crankpins. Cylinder head. Modified to give a compression ratio of 5.25/1 Valve springs double type. Camshaft. Long duration high lift. 114° between cams. Carburetter. R.R. semi-expanding. Petrol pump to LeC.2961. ELECTRICAL SECTION. A separate report has been sent on this. Instrument Patch. The instrument patch fitted to 19-EX. has been made from pressings instead of aluminium die-castings. The chief object of this is to reduce the cost. The instruments except the ammeter have been supplied by Messrs. Smiths. It is proposed to adopt these instruments on the 25HP. and so far nothing has been decided about Phantom II. The saving with the sheet metal patch and Smiths instruments is approx. £10 per car. | ||
