W/S - Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} x7961 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}17/KW.10.12.34. B-10-DG. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Thompson Esq. Thank you for Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}3/I/4.12.34. I am not quite clear whether you sent this gentleman a specification of the cost of the extras, which he signed at the same time as the Order Form for his car. If you did, I did not receive a copy. The facts of the sale were as follows - He saw 4-B-IV and decided to have the back of his car exactly like this car. This includes the two handles, the let-down boot, the side wheel carrier, the built-in Number Plate, and the outside petrol filler, all of which are mentioned in Ely/W.19.11.34, the total cost of which comes to £39. 7. 6d. I do not know what figure you quoted Mr. Thompson for these, but he thinks that he has signed an Order Form which includes the cost of them. If Ely. quoted less than £39. 7. 6d., I shall be in rather an awkward position. The position with regard to the road springs was that the car would not go along an ordinary Norfolk by-road without banging the silencer on the road. It seems hardly reasonable to expect a customer to pay extra for a car to enable him to drive under such conditions. The additional cost for fitting the fog lamp and the longer steering column has been agreed upon. Mr. Thompson wanted the no-draught ventilation front windows but certainly will not pay £15 for them. In view of the extra cost he will not have item 16, metal front floorboards, or item 14, front wings and running boards in one piece. I understand that Messrs. Park Ward wished to get some running on single piece wings and running boards, and should have thought that they would have been prepared to supply them at a reasonable figure in the case of a car where they can run under observation. However, if they cannot be obtained for less than £12, they are not required. | ||
