Testing a new grade of ignition coil insulating paper as a replacement for an out-of-stock grade.

We have had submitted to us for test by the Order Office samples of a different grade of insulating paper submitted for test by the L.P.S.Electrical Co.Ltd... This grade is 582 the standard grade being 503. The reason for the change is that the L.P.S. Co., have completely run out of stock of the grade 503 paper. We have tested this paper to our special specification for ignition coil insulating papers and find the same to comply with the limits of that specification both for voltage breakdown and leakage conductance. The figures however are right on the lower limit whereas the grade 503 figures where on the top limit on the leakage conductance test. We consider this paper therefore to be suitable for production but at the same time we urge the Order Office to obtain a grade of paper superior if possible to this new grade, and equal to the original grade 503 which has given satisfaction on production.
