I attach hereto the American report on springing which you kindly lent me. It really is most interesting. Perhaps you will let me know what results they find when they have fitted the lighter axle under the car.

The two points which appeal to me mostly are that America do not spring the offside 50 lbs heavier as we do, which I think is sound, as a lot of weight must be given to their view that other influences quite offset the reasons for which we make this difference.

The other point is the effect of the much broader axle-pad which has the effect of stiffening the front springs, and presumably of making them in effect much shorter and so altering the period, &c.

However, I imagine you are not leaving any stone unturned in the effort to improve our springing.
