To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to CJ. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL SECRET. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG15.10.23. E.A.C. ENGINE. X9770 X9060 Since we have modified the tappets so that they pull down on to a collar, we have had no further trouble with the tappets sticking. We found on dismantling that 2 exhaust valves were destroyed - no doubt caused by the tappets sticking. We attach to R's copy of this note a curve showing comparative HP. obtained with the engine fitted with a Claudel Carburetter, E.A.C. carburetter, and White Knave type 40/50 carburetter.
