RE MAGNETOS.

Mr. Nadin has tried to obtain for us some 12 cylinder Dixie Magnetos. The British Agents for these have none in stock, and are not allowed to import them unless under Government Warrant.

We have, at the Works, however, an 8 cylinder Dixie. This has all the essential features that would be on the 12 cylinder. We have run this magneto for eight hours at 3,000 revs - after that time the spring broke on the contact breaker.

We are sending this machine on 7 CA Car which is going down to Mr. Royce, so that he can have an opportunity of examining it.

We think we ought to still try and get hold of a pair of 12 cylinder magnetos so that we could test them on the engine. Except for bad workmanship, we had very little complaints with the Dixie magnetos. I believe on some engines they have given a lot of trouble, but this is due to them being run without a flexible coupling - this has caused them to shake to bits.

EH.
