Dear Sirs,

Klaxon Electric Wind-Screen Wiper.

Owing to a certain amount of trouble
having been experienced with the operation of your
Model T8082 12 volt wind screen wiper on our
chassis, we have carried out bench tests on a
wiper in order to ascertain:-

(a) Temperature rise under low conditions.
(b) Current consumption.
(c) Noise of operation. etc.

The wiper was run working at 34 strokes
per minute for 17 1/4 hrs. This condition was
estimated to be the condition of the wiper when the
screen was covered with snow such as was experienced
on one of your wipers recently on the Continent with
and Expl. chassis.

The motor carcase attained a tempera of
117C when run under this condition. This
temperature was attained with the motor clamped to a
wooden strut and running on a 12 volt battery in which
the applied voltage was gradually falling.
Obviously if the battery had been on charge attaining
its maximum voltage of 17.5, the temperature would
have been considerably increased.

We consider this temperature of 117C, to
be excessive and in some instances dangerous not
only to the windings of the motor and solder on the
commutator, but also to the chassis body work itself.
