re. Failure of Battery Ignition.
40/50 Chassis.

We have recently had a number of complaints of excessive burning away of platinum points, and have had to replace several owing to the existing platinum points being unfit for further use after 2 or 3,000 miles.

This trouble we have had with us for some considerable time, but in the past we have rather felt it was due to faulty earth connection of the condenser, but even this cure does not appear to have effectually given satisfaction.

In taking up the matter with the Experimental Department, we find they were experiencing the same trouble with the standard equipment now being turned out, but I now learn that this failure has been definitely overcome by the fixing of a different type condenser.

Will EFC. please arrange for this effective cure to be standardised.

Will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please arrange that this alteration is instructed for future production as quickly as ever possible. You may also consider the advisability of some retrospective action being taken on this matter, as it certainly appears that we are at the moment sending out cars, the battery ignition of which has been proved on the Experimental cars to be unsatisfactory.
