GOVERNOR CONTROLLED SHOCK DAMPERS. X4608

We have now got a car running with this scheme in such a state that we want to fit up further cars to a similar specification. At the moment we have used various parts from several schemes. Will you therefore prepare a scheme which will cover the specification of 22-EX car.

Shock damper end.

(1) Large double area valves Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}973/4.
(2) Bellows control. RR.Sch.363.
(3) 100 lbs. spring inside the bellows to be omitted.
(4) Damping disc of valve to be similar in shape to our standard small valve, having .010" clearance.
(5) 80 lbs. rating valve spring F.10078).
(6) The diameter of the thread on Ex.10838 used for adjusting the load of the damper should be increased from .500" to .625". One of the original ones fractured when tightening the nut.
(7) Velumoid washers are required each side of the bellows flange.

Governor Unit N.S.3640.

The spring in the over-riding control valve F.85008 should be replaced by a spring having four times the rating.

Pipe Lines.

We have broken the pipe line from the governor unit to the frame. This is due to the engine movement. We fitted up a pipe with a coil in it, but this also fractured after a small number of miles. We think it will be necessary to lead this pipe on to the cross member in the centre of the chassis in order to reduce the movement.

The remaining part of the specification is unaltered. We are proposing to fit, both Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s new car 104-MY and 27-EX our next Phantom for France, with the above specification immediately the parts are ready.
