R.{Sir Henry Royce} Chandler. Dear Sirs, Re Long 10.C.F. Clutch. We thank you for your letter of the 8th instant and note that you are desirous of experimenting with the above type clutch on your Bentley model, and we will arrange to forward one of the American samples which we have in stock, together with a Borg & Beck driven plate assembly such as you are now taking. We are enclosing herewith Drawing No.22030/3 which illustrates the centrifugal force diagram, and which gives the increased loading at various r.p.m. We would advise that the thrust springs utilized in the Borg & Beck clutches are not inter-changeable with the Long type clutch. Referring to the concluding paragraph of your letter, we are prepared to supply you for experimental purposes sample clutches at the price you are now paying for £2-10-0 the Borg & Beck model 10.A3, and in this connection we would point out that from the experience gained with manufacture of the 9" Long type clutch same is approximately 40% more costly than in the case of similar size Borg & Beck. However, it has occurred to us that should you seriously consider standardisation of the Long 10.C.F. clutch on the Bentley, it may be to our mutual advantage to obtain certain parts of the Cont'd..... | ||
