To Dor.{Mr Dorey} ~6000. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.17/JH.16.4.36. Re Sparking Plug Servicing at Hucknall At your request we have been investigating the most suitable apparatus for the above, and we now suggest you requisition for Dewsbury the following :- (1) One 1/2 H.P. Klaxon Synchronous electric motor, speed 1500 r.p.m. arranged for the voltage available at Hucknall. (2) One small chuck adaptor secured to the end of the shaft and made to grip the plug for cleaning and polishing the mica. EJJ will have to design and make one of these as the one we use is an old screening cap and is very unsuitable. We shall probably get him to make another one for us for our rig. (3) Small tin tray to stand underneath the chuck for oil etc. (4) One set of K.L.G. spanners and rice blocks to suit standard A.M. 14 m.m. and 18 m.m. plugs. (5) One H.T. cable and insulation testing rig consisting of the following apparatus mounted in a suitable cabinet :- (a) One 12 volt B.T.H. Booster coil. (b) Push button switch for operating the same. (c) One Ferrenti 2 1/2" moving coil ammeter scale 0 to 1 milliamperes. Portable battery. (d) One small chassis ignition condenser which must be connected across the terminals of this ammeter. We can give final details regarding the wiring up of these units.
