carburetter as regards metering at medium throttle openings etc. but in spite of this it functions remarkably well. It is possible to bang open the throttle from 5 m.p.h. on top gear and the car responds immediately without the slightest sign of hesitation; from below this speed it is not quite so good, it falters if the throttle is opened quickly but if opened gradually the results are good. The medium throttle position metering although not what we should call perfect is good, as good as on many high class cars employing a proprietary carburetter. The whole performance is a very good illustration of what can be achieved by using a simple carburetter of this type and gives one the impression that all its good points could be retained and its bad ones elimi by the use of a few more complicated refinements viz: mixture control, air intake silencer and possibly an accelerating pump to improve the dead low speed performance.
