-4- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CAP.11/MH.{M. Huckerby}28.10.37. (c) continued. Output Current at 15.0 Volts, Cold. Specified. 1.0 to 5.4 amperes. Unit without compensation 5.4 " (average) Unit with compensation 8.5 " " Output Current at 15.0 Volts, Hot. Specified 3.5 to 10.0 amperes. Unit without compensation 11.0 " Unit with compensation 6.5 " (2) Reliability. A number of these regulators, although not complying with our specification, have been running on cars for some months; so far without breakdown. One unit ran 17,000 miles on 32-EX without giving trouble. On the other hand these units were checked on the bench, before being fitted to cars, and we have had a number of failures on the bench. Also it remains to be seen whether they have materially altered in performance. Our impression is, that once they are right, they are likely to remain right. (3) Length of Life. This can only be ascertained by prolonged running on the bench and on cars. Running on cars is being continued, but it is thought best to wait for something like the final arrangement, before running a bench endurance test. | ||
