To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c.c. to EJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}✓ c.c. to R.{Sir Henry Royce} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG29:12.36: RE. EIGHT CYL. CAR. X435 X4024 X7260 With reference to the attached note from CY. We consider his comments on the length of the chassis interesting especially in view of the fact that Springfield make all short type chassis. CY. is suggesting saving length by shortening the bonnet, but when we did this on RAC-Vlll and RAC-Vll, the appearance was criticised. We expect to have a proper body on RAC-Vll in a few weeks and will then get Sales to judge the appearance again. It appears obviously wrong to have the chassis any longer than is necessary.
