To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from BJ. Copy to... Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BJB/H29.9.25. "NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I" EXHAUST SYSTEM. As we understand Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is seeing you this week, and you will doubtless be discussing the above matter, we would mention that we have tested the last form of silencer fitted to 103-MC, and this appears to be satisfactory as regards silence. We should like it to be fitted as standard to our cars as soon as possible, as every car which is delivered with the present standard silencer is likely to be a cause for complaint, and give a bad impression to those who hear the car standing, running, or drive in it. We therefore look on the alteration as being urgent. We hope the silencer can be tested for 10,000 miles as soon as possible, and a standardisation sheet prepared. We understand that later you will be designing another form of silencer which may be equally efficient as regards silence, but not cause such loss of power. We are glad to hear this. We attach a copy of CWB10/1H22.9.25 on this subject. B.J. | ||
