Dear Sirs,

Pressed Steel Wheels.

With further reference to your letter of the 31st October, we regret that it does not seem possible to modify the existing 4.50x16 wheels in the manner you suggest.

Firstly, the well depth of our light weight 4.00 section rim differs from that of the 4.50-E rim, and the outside diameter of the pressing as incorporated in the latter size wheel would not, therefore, be suitable.

Secondly, according to our records the 4.50x16 wheel is inset .40", namely, the centre-line of the rim is that amount nearer the chassis than the bolting on face, whereas by substituting the 4.00 section rim the inset would need to be reduced to .150".

If, however, your suppliers could modify a set of pressings to permit the required change of track, we would advise you the outside diameter to which they should be formed, in order to accommodate satisfactorily our rim.

We trust that the foregoing is clear, and shall look forward to your further comments.

Yours faithfully,
For DUNLOP RUBBER COMPANY, LTD.
