CLAN FOUNDRY.
----------------

With reference to Sft{Mr Swift}/T/BH.28.5.41 regarding the future programme for the Clan Foundry.

We are, as you know, anxious to contribute to the aero programme to the best of our ability, and are working to that end. There is no doubt that, owing to the fact that we have been working on Kestrels, we are well equipped to deal with Peregrines, and there should be no difficulty in fulfilling the requirements in this respect.

We are not, however, well situated with regard to washing and estimating Vultures, owing to lack of floor space and degreasing equipment. The best promise we can get from EJJ. for an I.C.I. trichlorethylene degreasing plant is sixteen weeks delivery, and until we have this, we cannot deal with cleaning Vultures satisfactorily. We therefore consider that cleaning and estimating Vulture engines handled by the Clan sill have to continue to be dealt with by the Works, for some time at any rate.
