Contd. -2- EFC/T31.8.27. Technically speaking, therefore, tungsten perhaps may be considered to show some advantage. Some time back, when the question of putting through a standardisation sheet for tungsten was here discussed, it was considered that unless tungsten showed a definite advantage over platinum it was inadvisable to standardise, as any failures of tungsten points might be adversely criticised after the change. In view of our more recent tests the position may now be considered a little more favourable to tungsten points. It will be understood, however, that we cannot consistently get a satisfactory 10,000 mile test of these points, i.e. running without attention. In view of the possibility of our getting further information concerning the running of tungsten points comparatively quickly, now, we propose, unless you request the issue of a standardisation sheet within the next day or two, to postpone such issue for a further short period, i.e. until results of further tests now in hand are available. We do not now appear to be getting many platinum point complaints from customers. EFC. | ||
