SHEET NO. 3. THE WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE AND SAXBY SIGNAL CO LTD. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF RP. 10 - F.{Mr Friese} RECTIFIER SETS FOR USE ON 200 VOLTS 50 CYCLES. SERIAL NO. 3622 This rectifier should be mounted in a dry cool place, the air temperature of which should not exceed 115° Fahrenheit. It is advisable not to crowd other apparatus near it as a fairly free circulation of air is desirable, and care should also be taken to avoid spilling accumulator acid on any part of the rectifier. The main switch simultaneously controls both A.C. and D.C. circuits which are insulated from each other and protected by a 3 amp. and 10 amp. fuse respectively. The ammeter shows the actual charging current, which may be regulated by loosening the four nuts holding the top of the trans-former in place, and turning the vertical adjusting screws. By this means the leakage block may be raised until the increased air gap enables the required charging rate to be obtained. It is important to note that these rectifiers are despatched from our works with the leakage block screwed down, so unless the above explanation is duly appreciated it will only be possible to obtain the minimum charging current. The rectifier should only be connected to an A.C. supply at its rated voltage and frequency. It should not be connected to a battery having a higher nominal voltage than 12 nor should an out-put greater than 6 amperes be taken from it. The assembly of these rectifiers is a highly skilled operation and the manufacturers do not accept responsibility for the operation of rectifiers which have been at any time or in any way dismantled. | ||
