EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL. c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} x7230. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL.1/W.4.7.30. x7230. PHANTOM 11 SILENCER SNOUT. We see no objection to bending the silencer snout over to clear the spring gaiters provided that the alteration does not entail reduction of ground clearance or mean that the exhaust gases will be ejected on to the number plate or luggage grid bottom rail. As this fault now appears to be universally complained of, will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please examine the lay-out and if the alteration is possible, issue instructions to alter future production. In the meantime we are awaiting a design which will extend the snout to the end of the chassis; owing to the increased length of swan neck this necessitates the use of a stay from the rear cross member to the snout.
