RR.56 FORGED BAR FOR BEARINGS.

We note you have received a copy of Laboratory report H13/AG.19.2.37, in regard to the 3" dia. forged RR.56 intended for Bentley Connecting Rod Bearings.

According to Laboratory analysis the Silicon content is approximately .45% whereas it is suggested that this should be at least .6%.

In the opinion of the Laboratory the ductility of the material we have received will be rather more than usual, and the bearing qualities of the material reduced somewhat.

We are of the opinion that this slight difference will not be seriously detrimental for test purposes particularly if we give 12 hours ageing after rough machining.

Will you please advise if you desire us to put in hand further material.
