For the attention of Mr.E.C.McKinnon.

Dear Sir,

We thank you for your letter of the 15th instant reference CPL/LJ. and note your remarks regarding the 6-XHR11-1L battery with 7/16" plate pitch.

We have decided that this battery dimensionally suits our requirements to the best advantage and also gives a reasonable electrical specification.

Will you kindly let us have a dimensioned drawing of this new battery and will you also instruct for a sample battery to be sent to us for test and examination as soon as possible. The battery can be sent dry and we will arrange to first charge it here.

Referring to your last paragraph, we should have thought that the obviation of overcharging and the provision of a high charge rate when it is most required, due to the use of vibrator dynamo control would have made all the difference in the World to the life of the chassis battery. Could you give us a rough comparison between the third brush dynamo system and the vibrator control system as regards battery life? Also what is the average life, judged by your experience of replacements, of our present standard 40/50 and 20/25 batteries using the 5/32" plates.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED
