Further to our telephone conversation, we have discussed the frame generally in view of your report on the rivets loosening, and have come to the conclusion that the best place to sort the matter out is the bump. You might find that a considerable amount of welding is necessary to put 8.B.V. right which might take a long time, but this would not prove that had welding been used in the first place, the rivets might not have held satisfactorily. I should like you to decide what is the minimum amount of welding required to keep the car on the road, and instruct Rose to do this only. Presumably he will have to try to do it in Paris without attracting inquisitive spectators.

The situation with regard to rear shock absorber links is unfortunate, and we might have to decide whether it is cheaper to keep to our old type of all-metal link, or go to the silentbloc.

I am somewhat concerned with regard to Whyman's report on wear in the brake linkage, and we shall have to decide what can be done about this when you get back.

Attached is a copy of a note which Waller wrote to you at Chateauroux in case you do not go there, which gives you the necessary information with regard to meeting Rose and Gardner.
