Messrs. Stothert & Pitt Ltd.,
Engineers,
Bath.

Dear Sirs,

With reference to Pump No.4163, which we have had for some considerable time.

We have conducted tests on this pump and our main criticism is that its suction lift is no good.

Our chief interest in testing this pump was to see if it would give a good dry suction lift as our requirements for petrol and water both demand this feature at present. Delivery against a 12 ft. pressure head lifting 12 ft. the pump's performance was very erratic at 1,000 R.P.M. and below. It would start and stop without any speed variation. At 500 and 250 R.P.M. it would not lift even when primed.

We attach herewith a curve of this delivery and details as to its performance. We are returning the pump to you under separate cover.

Yours faithfully,

For "olls-Royce Ltd.
